The Atlas of China's Natural Disasters in 2016 is the sixth volume of the Atlas of China's Natural Disasters series. In terms of layout design, it continues the concept of Atlas of Natural Disasters 2011-2015 in China, continues to adopt the current international popular simplicity style, and fully uses composite colors and combined symbol expression methods combining the characteristics of natural disasters, so as to have both the readability of the content, the aesthetics of the overall layout, and the objectivity of information transmission. In addition to the number of damaged houses, the total value of various disaster indicators from April to August accounted for more than 90% of the total loss of wind and hail disasters in the year, including the number of missing people due to disasters, the number of emergency relocation people, the number of collapsed houses, and direct economic losses accounted for more than 95% of the total loss of wind and hail disasters in the year.
The impact of wind and hail disasters on agricultural production is very prominent, and agricultural losses account for more than 70% of the direct economic losses, of which the agricultural losses in northeast and northwest areas account for more than 85%. Affected by thunderstorm, hail, tornado and sandstorm, agricultural losses caused by wind and hail disasters are mainly reflected in large area yield reduction or crop failure of food crops and cash crops, as well as damage to agricultural facilities.
