The Great Hinggan Mountains are located in the northern part of Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It rises from the Heilongjiang River in the north to the upper valley of the Xilamulun River in the south. It runs from northeast to southwest with a total length of more than 1200 km, a width of more than 400 km and an altitude of 1100-1400 meters. The primitive forest in Daxing'an Mountains is dense and one of the main distribution areas of national key state-owned forests and natural forests. It is also the only cold temperate coniferous forest area in China and the only cold temperate biological gene pool in China. The forest coverage rate is 79.83%. The main trees are Larix gmelinii, Pinus sylvestris, Spruce koraiensis, Betula platyphylla, Quercus mongolica and Poplar.
