General situation of typhoon disaster

In 2014, a total of 26.655 million people were affected by the typhoon disaster in 12 provinces (autonomous regions), 94 people died, 17 people were missing, 1.773 million people were urgently transferred and resettled; 52000 houses collapsed and 626000 houses were damaged in varying degrees; the disaster area of crops was 24831000 hectares, including 3487000 hectares of barren harvest; and 69.340 billion yuan of direct economic loss was lost.

In 2014, typhoon disasters mainly showed the following characteristics:

1.The number of typhoons landing is small and the frequency is more, and the losses are concentrated in South China.

In 2014, a total of 5 typhoons landed on the mainland of China, and the number of landfall was 1.8 less than the annual average, of which no typhoon landed in August was historically rare. On June 15, "Heibei Si" landed in Shantou, Guangdong Province, 10 days earlier than usual. In 2014, four of the five typhoons landed in China twice or more. The 1409 super typhoon "Rammasun" and the No. 1410 typhoon "Matmo" landed three times respectively, and the No. 1416 typhoon "Phoenix" landed as many as four times, which is the first typhoon landing in Shanghai in 25 years. In terms of losses, more than 80% of the damaged area of crops, no harvest area, damaged houses and direct economic losses caused by typhoon disasters throughout the year, and more than 60% of emergency resettlement were concentrated in South China.

2.The history of super typhoon is rare and Hainan has been severely damaged

On July 18 and 19, 2014, the super typhoon "Rammasun" landed in Hainan, Guangdong and Guangxi for three times. When landing in Hainan and Guangdong, the maximum wind force reached force 17. It is the strongest typhoon landing in South China since 1973 and the most serious impact on Hainan Province since 2000, with rare loss history. As a result, houses and crops in Hainan and other places have been seriously damaged; more than 100 flights have been cancelled, many ferry and passenger ships have been suspended, and trains on multiple lines have been suspended; Water supply and power supply in Haikou and Wenchang of Hainan, Xuwen and Leizhou in Guangdong, Beihai and Fangchenggang in Guangxi were interrupted for a long time, and seawater recharge occurred in many places.
