In 2014, the disaster situation in Guangdong was the same as that in recent years, mainly typhoon and flood.

1.Western Guangdong has been hit hard by typhoons, and "Rammasun" has broken the record

Three typhoons and one tropical depression landed in Guangdong in the whole year, which was close to the normal (3.7). Tropical storm "Hailbs" landed in Shantou on June 15, which was the first typhoon to land in Guangdong and Mainland China in 2014, 12 days earlier than the annual average. Typhoon "Rammasun" landed on the coast of Xuwen on July 18. When landing, the maximum wind force near the center was 17 (60m/s), exceeding the extreme value since typhoon records in Guangdong, it is the strongest typhoon landing in Guangdong since the founding of the people's Republic of China. The tropical depression generated in the South China Sea on September 6 and landed in Mazhang District of Zhanjiang City on September 8. The maximum wind force in the center was 7 (15m/s). Typhoon Haiou landed on the coast of Xuwen on September 16, the maximum wind force near the center was 13 (40 m/s).

Due to the typhoon disaster, the water supply and power supply in Xuwen, Leizhou and other places in Zhanjiang were interrupted in a large area, the phenomenon of seawater pouring back into many places and the traffic was interrupted. Many billboards were overturned, causing heavy losses in western Guangdong, especially in Leizhou Peninsula.

There were eight heavy rainfall processes in the preceding period, of which the precipitation was more than 20% more than that of the same period of the year, which was the most in the same period since 2009, there were 22 days of Rainstorm in May alone.
