The Atlas of China's Natural Disasters in 2016 is the sixth volume of the Atlas of China's Natural Disasters series. In terms of layout design, it continues the concept of Atlas of Natural Disasters 2011-2015 in China, continues to adopt the current international popular simplicity style, and fully uses composite colors and combined symbol expression methods combining the characteristics of natural disasters, so as to have both the readability of the content, the aesthetics of the overall layout, and the objectivity of information transmission. In 2016, flood disasters (including geological disasters caused by rainstorm, the same below) were the most extensive natural disasters that affected China and suffered the most losses. The country successively suffered from such major floods as the mud rock flow in Taining, Fujian, on May 8, the flood in the south in the middle and late June, and the severe rainstorm and flood in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and North China in July.
According to statistics, in 2016, the flood disaster affected 99.549 million people nationwide, 968 people died, 214 people were missing, 6.042 million people were urgently relocated, and 2.845 million people needed emergency life assistance; The affected area of crops is 8531400 hectares, including 1297300 hectares of dead crops; 441000 houses collapsed and 2155000 houses were damaged to varying degrees; The direct economic loss was 313.44 billion yuan.
In general, compared with the average value from 2000 to 2015, the flood disaster losses are basically the same, the emergency relocation population and direct economic losses are higher, and the other disaster indicators are slightly lower; Compared with the average value during the "12th Five Year Plan" period, the emergency relocation population and direct economic losses are the highest since 2011, and the disaster situation in Hebei, Hubei, Anhui and other provinces is prominent.
