Online map of epicentral distribution of Chinese earthquakes (magnitude 4 to 5)
At each point on the earthquake epicenter map, an earthquake of different sizes was recorded. By recording the time and frequency of the occurrence of these earthquakes, the law of the activity of the earthquake can be clearly observed, thus providing a graphical representation of effective protection against earthquakes.
Earthquakes are mainly distributed in the Pacific Rim, the Albis-Himalayan Belt, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the Indian Ocean Ridge. In general, earthquakes mainly occur in ridges and rift valleys, trenches, conversion faults, and tectonic activity belts on the edge of ancient and ancient plates within the continent. This is the role of the earthquake epicenter distribution map. China is one of the regions with the strongest seismic activity in the global mainland. The earthquake has been recorded in Chinese history for more than 2,000 years, but the mainland area east of 98° east longitude has only recorded records for more than 500 years. After 1900, although there have been observations by seismic stations, it is only an earthquake of magnitude 6 or above that will not cause major omissions. At present, there are more than 500 seismic stations and 19 telemetry stations in the country, which can monitor earthquakes of Grade 3 or above (more than 4 grades in some areas) and strong earthquakes of Grade 6 or above.
