T1 = Inlet hot fluid temperature
T2 = Outlet hot fluid temperature
t1 = Inlet cold fluid temperature
t2 = Outlet cold fluid temperature
The logarithmic mean temperature difference (method) is used to determine the driving force of the heat transfer temperature in the flow system. The method is the logarithmic mean temperature difference between the hot and cold water streams at the ends of the heat exchanger.
This calculator is used to calculate the logarithmic mean temperature difference (ie parallel flow of heat, liquid or gas, both from left to right, so that the cold flow is the same).
Larger logarithmic mean temperature difference, more heat is transferred. The method is used directly from a constant flow and thermal analysis of fluid heat transfer.
Input data:
Inlet hot fluid temperature (T1): 45°F
Outlet hot fluid temperature (T2): 25°F
Inlet cold flow temperature (t1): 20 °F
Outlet cold flow temperature (t2): 15°F
Click on calculation to output data
Logarithmic mean temperature difference (LMTD): 13.9528 °F
