The database includes over 165,000 gravity observations conducted on land in Britain. The majority of the surveys were carried out by the BGS, but the database also incorporates data originally acquired by other organizations. Subsequently, this data was provided to the BGS and integrated into a consistent dataset that has become the national archive.
