Mathematical term, a form of a power of a × 10. A number is expressed as (a form of a power of n × 10), where 1 ≤ |a| < 10, and n represents an integer. This method of counting is called scientific notation. In the form of power, it is sometimes convenient to represent some of the larger numbers encountered in daily life, such as: the speed of light is about 300 000 000 m/s; the population of the world is about: 6 100 000 000 people. Often see such a large number in physics, reading and writing are very inconvenient, considering the power of 10 has the following characteristics
In general, the power of 10n has n zeros after 1 so that some large numbers can be represented by a power of 10, such as: 6 100 000 000 = 6.1 × 1 000 000 000.
